Delighted to see you here, hope you like what you are seeing. Lechko3d is a website that has been in mind for over a decade in various forms, I always wanted to create a site which acts as a resource for 3d artists like me while incorporating my other passions like 3d printing and awesome desk setup gear.
Who Am I?
Hi I’m Alex and I am the person behind Lechko3d.com. If there was something for me to do forever, it would be this, 3d stuff.
I have been in the 3d design and creation space for over 15 years now, working on a variety of projects mostly for advertising. The projects I worked on were for many notable clients, such as HBO, Netflix and much more. As a 3D generalist I worked in all stages of 3d production from modeling to rigging, animation, rendering, basically all of it. Coding and programming is also a passion of mine which I self taught myself, sometimes out of necessity and sometimes out of curiosity. My career eventually led me to managing teams and working on emerging technologies, still affiliated with 3d.
Technology and art was always the thing I gravitated towards. Growing up I was always a creative and a curious kid, whether it was drawing or creating treasure maps of my neighborhood, creativity has always been a part of my nature. When I got my first computer, circa 1991, I knew I wanted my future to be involved with computers. Early on I mostly played games, but also did some art with graphics programs. In my late teens I began to be interested in 3D graphics and wanted to figure out how to do it. I got my hands on Bryce 4 and started creating environments in Bryce, I loved it. See below
In my early 20s I decided to delve deeper and got my hands on Maya 4.5, a software package to create 3d. I bought a book with tutorials and I created my first ever 3d animation of the solar system, and I got hooked even more. I decided to pursue computer animation as a career.
This is my thesis project…
Of course there is a lot of room for improvement, but at the time to me it was the coolest thing, and I am still proud of it.
Of course after many years of practice my skills improved to this:
Why Lechko3d.com?
First of all, what the heck is lechko? Well it’s derived from a nickname ‘alechko’ which is a nickname of Alex, deep right? As I mentioned before it is a site that I have been wanting to do for a long time, and it’s something that I myself would want to have as a 3D artist. purpose is to be a one-stop resource for 3d artists of all levels, where they can brush up on their skills, learn something new, be inspired, discover 3d printing, or upgrade their desk space.
The site has three main hubs, 3D Art & Design, 3D Printing, and 3D Artists’ gear. This represents all my passions.
Each hub has two sections Tools and Guides. It is divided into two sections to present purely information articles (Guides) and articles where we review products (Tools).
The products we review are products that we feel will enhance the 3d artist. Each main hub has its own related products.
3D Art & Design – Here we have product reviews on inspiring books and how-to books (make sure to check out the reviews with videos where I flip through the books to give the reader a preview). In this hub, we also review products that help the 3d artist with their traditional art needs and sketching.
3D Printing – Here we have product reviews on the latest and greatest 3d printers, 3d printers for specific printing like miniatures, as well as insights on the various materials for 3d printing which is an important factor when deciding to 3d print.
3D Artist’s Gear – In this hub, we cover the various gear 3d artists use, whether it’s tablets, monitors, tricked-out PCs for 3d modeling, animation, and rendering, or those products you need to create an amazing desk setup.
Of course this product reviews will come with a link which will take the user to the site to buy that product, if you choose to buy it I will get a small commission and a big thank you, this is how we are able to maintain the site. You can read more about it in our Affiliate Disclosure.
This pretty much covers who is behind the site, what it’s for and what it offers. I really hope you enjoy the content provided and that you get some value from it.
If you want to reach out, head to the Contact page, I’ll make sure to reply.
Oh, and thank you so much for making it this far!
Alex, aka lechko.
